My Personal Interpretation
The first card of the deck is called The Fool. Because the numerical value of the card is zero, The Fool can be seen as both the first and last card of the major arcana. It’s fitting if you think of the arcana as a wheel that cycles around back to the beginning after each major adventure.
When I think of The Fool, I always imagine myself as a teenager fresh out of high school. I’m innocent and naïve, as I have not yet ventured into the vast world and seen with my own eyes the truths be found beyond the horizon. I am full of ideal hopes and dreams that I just know I’ll find on my adventure and I’m confident nothing can stand in my way. The adventure begins and the possibilities are endless!
The Fool is the card of a new beginning — a new adventure. It’s like a newborn infant opening their eyes to see the world for the first time. Be careful, young fool, for your naïve nature could cause you to make ill-informed and impulsive decisions. Be careful not to be too gullible, easily influenced or taken advantage of. Those ideals that you’ve spent years dreaming of might not be as realistic as you think.
Regardless, don’t be afraid to take the leap, as that is what The Fool Card is all about. Open the doors and step outside. Choose your path and start walking. Who knows what you will find along the way! Go forth, young fool and grow!
Remember to always pay attention to the imagery of the deck you’re using, each deck will have different ways of illustrating each tarot card and, in some cases, put certain spins or include additional information to your interpretation.
Always choose a deck that you feel called to before doing your readings. Having several decks to choose from is a plus. Regardless of what deck you use however, remember that the overall meaning of the tarot cards are the same. No matter what deck you use, The Fool is always going to be The Fool.
