Pearl

I once found
a majestic pearl
on the shoreline.

But alas, though
I treasured it so,
I carelessly
dropped it
in the ocean
while sailing
one day.

Many sunsets
have since passed,
and I still
have yet to forget
its beauty.

And while
I yearn
to hold it
in my hand
once more,

I know
it is home,
where it belongs.
