Looking Back

He was never that guy that made my nerves implode

His eyes were like oceans that hold endless horizons.

He was a sunny day, and I once soaked in his rays

A safe and warm home that I once called my own.

He never made me lose any sleep.

He never made my appetite weak.

He calmed the anguish inside of my bones

Like a spirit healer, he brought peace to my soul.

We might not have lasted, but truth be told,

When I look into those eyes today,

My dark shadows seem a little less bold.
